Dr Peter Cohen

Dr Cohen retired in 2020.

Dr Peter Cohen was a student at St Andrew’s College and graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Sydney in 1969.

After residency at The Mater Misericordiae Hospital, North Sydney he continued his ophthalmic training at The Sydney Eye Hospital, St Vincent’s Hospital and The Royal Alexandra Hospital for Children.

He entered private practice in 1974 in the Sutherland and St George Shires of Sydney.

Dr Cohen was Visiting Medical Officer at The Sutherland Hospital for 24 years before retiring to concentrate on private practice. He was also VMO at a number of private hospitals in the St George and Sutherland region as well as Port Macquarie.

He is a Fellow of both The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists and The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.

Dr Cohen first used the Excimer Laser for vision correction with The Sydney Refractive Surgery Centre. He performed Photo Refractive Keratectomies from 1991 and the Lasik Procedure from 1995.
