Dr Dov Hersh is an ophthalmic and oculoplastic surgeon with rare dual international post-graduate fellowship qualifications from world leading institutions. Dov specialises in minimally invasive surgical techniques, resulting in reduced tissue disruption and faster recovery times.
Surgically Dr Hersh has a subspecialty focus on premium cataract surgery and complex oculoplastic surgery. Dov has extensive experience in Asian and redo blepharoplasty, minimally invasive endoscopic lacrimal (DCR) surgery and peri-ocular tumour management. Dov also has a keen interest in premium cataract surgery and offers patients the latest intraocular lens options to suit individual visual needs and refractive aims.
After completing specialist ophthalmology qualifications at Sydney Eye Hospital, Dr Hersh undertook a further 2.5 years of sub-specialty training at two of Europe's premiere eye institutions, Bristol Eye Hospital and Moorfields Eye Hospital, London. Dr Hersh trained with pioneers in the fields and brings this expertise to his patients.
Dov has been appointed to the executive Australian and New Zealand Society of Ophthalmic Plastic Surgeons (ANZSOPS), the peak body for oculoplastic surgeons in Australia, and is an accredited member of the Australian Association of Facial Plastic Surgeons (AAFPS) and the British Oculoplastic Surgical Society(BOPSS).
Dr Hersh has authored multiple published manuscripts in international peer reviewed journals in his specialty fields, and has written a book chapter on orbital inflammatory disease. He was appointed as an accredited investigator in an array of multi-national clinical trials studying new treatments and trained in advanced surgical techniques.
Prior to his medical career Dov gained a Bachelor of Commerce degree at UNSW, specialising in Information Technology. As a medical student he established telemedicine projects in developing countries. In recognition of his efforts Dov was awarded semi-finalist for young Australian of the Year.
Being part of the core team at Sydney Eye Surgeons has allowed Dr Hersh to set up comprehensive procedure rooms at both the Miranda and Bondi practices where suitable patients can be treated for a range of oculoplastic conditions including; periocular tumour excision and repair, entropion, ectropion and blepharoplasty without the need for hospital admission or sometimes lengthy clinic wait times to be treated in the public system.
Dov has a young family and consults at both Bondi Junction and Miranda practices.
